Diagnostic Audiology

We offer the following services (by appointment only):

diagnostic test battery including puretone and speech audiometry, manual impedance and tympanometry (middle ear function) - the patient will be referred back to the referring physician for medical treatment or further review

advanced tests for indications of the origin of the loss, ie. middle ear, inner ear, neural or central pathways ie. reflex and tone decay, recruitment tests

visual reinforcement and play audiometry to assist in testing young children ( 12 months +) , some children may require a further referral after initial assessment for more specific pediatric testing (ie. evoked potential audiometry)

hearing aid evaluation, prescription and authorization (ie. Assistive Devices Program)

tests of central auditory processing (CAP) and associated reports to the school system and other agencies as requested

educational audiological consultation to school boards as well as in-clinic assessment of auditory skill level of hard of hearing students along with the provision of auditory goals

counseling of clients, caregivers or close family members regarding the implications of hearing loss and non-medical options for assistance including compensatory measures

industrial hearing screening and associated services ie. educational

Note: Diagnostic audiology costs are covered by OHIP, DVA, WCB, Federal (ie. RCMP, Corrections) or other agencies
